My ethos in this industry

BEAUTY IN A NON TOXIC SPACE

Means that we can believe that less is plenty, that asking for more from an experience is okay, that beauty is energy, that self expression is yours to own- and that part of self care is creating healthy rituals that serve our best self. Ingredients in products are part of that story. A sustainable planet for our future generations is part of that story. Showing up for our community and learning about cultural backgrounds is what beauty is all about. I think about this a lot as the mother of a 13 year old daughter. Will she see me as a person who cared so much about what I looked like? Or will she see someone who utilized beauty as a lived experience?

When do you feel beautiful?

When I’m cooking mid food and pretending I’m Anthony bourdain

When I put on my favorite lipstick

In a record store

Sitting at a dimly lit bar with a loved one

Around live music

Reading

When I can show up as a mother

Behind the camera

When I make someone laugh

This excercise takes us away from the shitty standards we see on a daily basis online. The ones we use to compare ourselves to each other. It reminds us that those that we are most attracted to typically have a subjectively beautiful quality(s) that draws us to them. To be full of life with whatever capacity you have in this moment.
